ABOUT THE CLUB

The initial Polish-Canadian Coin Club was started in Scarborough, Ontario by Janusz Machulec in 1998. After the idea spread and more and more collectors of Polish collectibles supported it, the Club moved to Mississauga. It was officially established as The Polish-Canadian Coin & Stamp Club Troyak (Troyak Club for short) in September of 2002.

A White Eagle on a Red Shield was adopted as the Logo. It is based on an official seal of Przemysl II (Przemysł II or commonly Przemysław II), the King of Poland from 1295 to 1296.

The name Troyak (actually Trojak in Polish) is derived from the name of a first truly Polish coin valued at three groszy (grosz is the smallest denomination). The Trojak has passed the trials of time, wars, insurrections and partitions of Poland. It was introduced by the King Sigismund I the Old (Zygmunt I Stary) in 1528 and was in circulation with the last one minted in Warsaw in 1841. In over 300 years these coins were accepted in Poland, surrounding countries, Europe and even Asia. With such popularity, it is one of the most studied and collected polish coins.
